I was shocked when I saw e.l.f at my local Walgreens! For those of you that don’t know about e.l.f products: it is an insanely cheap but very good quality makeup. I’ve found it at store like T.j Maxx, Ross, and Target. I’m not sure if all Walgreens are selling these but at mine they have the Disney villains collection. They have the look books, nail polish, and false eye lashes. I picked up the “Cruella De Vil” book because they are neutrals that I wear a lot. It comes with 6 eye shadows, mascara, eye primer, eyeliner pencil, liquid eye liner, lip gloss and an eyeshadow brush. All for $9.99!!! I’ll post a tutorial very soon using some of my favorite “cheap” makeup that anyone on any budget can run out and grab. Till then keep a look out and feel free to share with me some of your budget friendly beauty finds 🙂
Ok I’ll admit it, I’m a Bath and Body Works junkie! I love just about everything in that place and I’ve spent a small fortune in there. For the past 3 years I’ve used nothing but their body washes. Thanks to my step dad for sending me a box full of different washes and lotions, and their amazing sales 🙂 About a month ago I ran out. It was a sad day for me, lol. We recently moved away from Jacksonville ( the only place with a mall near me) so I really don’t go there unless I absolutely need to, being as I can’t stand that place. When I went to Walmart I decided “it’s time to stop being a BBW snob and just get something here.” I spent more time In their body wash isle than I have in my whole life. I think I picked up every brand of body wash, smelled it, read the labels and put it back about 5 times! Nothing could compare to the wonderful smells at BBW 😦 Then I saw Herbal Essence has come out with a new line of body wash! I grabbed one and was on my way. It turns out I’m very pleased with my purchase. They lather up just as good as BBW, the smell is amazing, it actually stays on your skin hours after your shower, and doesn’t dry out your skin. This is my new go to body wash 🙂
This blog is obviously dedicated to saving money and still looking fab. But sometimes that doesn’t always work out. This week I broke my own rule, “I will never attempt to do anything to my hair by myself again.” About a year ago I chopped off all of my hair, then I went in for a trim and got the most jacked up hair cut of my life! Luckily I had a childhood friend who’s brother is an amazing hair stylist and he did wonders to what little hair I had left. I vowed I would never stray from him again. Until I had a moment of pure insanity this past week. I recently decided to go brown for fall. I thought “I’ll save a lot of money if I just do it myself.” It turned out alright for about 2 days, then I noticed my ends were turning green. So I thought that would be an easy fix, just get the same color and dye it one more time. Yeah, no. When I washed the dye out my roots were still the same color but my ends were BLACK! Just like that I ruined my poor hair. So after a few hours of crying to my husband (who was so great, he kept saying “it’s not THAT bad.” lol) I pulled it together and decided I had to fix this. We don’t really have the funds to rush to my hair god (you other marine wives know, it’s right before pay day you don’t even leave the house till the first lol), so I dug myself into this hole I’m getting myself out! I went to Sally’s, picked up some L’oreal Color Zap and a beautiful rich brown by Ion, and some intense hair repair conditioner. After a few tense hours, it’s safe to say I’m happy with the outcome. It’s still slightly two toned but it’s a very pretty color. So my point is….trying to save money and look awesome is great. But there are some things we should never try to do the “cheap” way!
I’m about to share with you not only my favorite on a budget beauty secret, but what I think is one of the best! One afternoon my husband decided we were going on a date. That happens like…never. I got dressed up, my hair and makeup were perfect. Then I looked down at my nails. It looked like a two year old painted them! There was no way I was going out to dinner looking like that. So off to walgreens I went. I really didn’t know what I was going to get. I saw the Kiss press on nails and thought “I only need them for one night and 6 bucks isn’t going to break the bank.” They were easy to apply. The nails are numbered so that takes all the guess work out. I just buffed my nails really quick, put the glue in the center of the nails, pressed them for a few seconds and done!! They stay on for a week or more! They don’t chip or lift. I do everything while wearing them, dishes, horse back riding, everything. The glue is amazing, press on nails have really come a long way. I will never pay $40 for French tips again! I love love love these nails!
Foundation is the most important part of putting on your makeup. The wrong kind can make you look like a hot mess. But the right kind can change your life!! Yes I’m a
little dramatic, just a little. I’ve tried so many foundations, MAC, Benefit, and so many store brands. I have found the holy grail of drugstore foundations…..Revlon Colorstay Whipped foundation!! It. Is. AMAZEballs!!! It goes on so smooth, stays on forever, is so creamy and gorgeous. I can’t find anything negative to say about this. Since it’s whipped and in a jar I apply it with a flat top foundation brush. A little bit goes a long way, apply it in circular motions all over the face and fall in love! I got mine from Ulta for about $12, but you can download the Ulta app on your phone and get the $3 off of $10 so it’s like 9 bucks 🙂
Fall…The best time of the year. I am in love with everything about fall, the decorations, the smells, the festivals, just everything! So as soon as I start spotting fall decor on store shelves I’m all over it! Since we … Continue reading
My whole life I’ve struggled with breakouts and horribly sensitive skin. I’ve seen a few people rave about the new Clearasil Superfruit Scrub. I was so afraid to try it, I’ve had to rush to the e.r. because of bad reactions to face washes After the initial freak out my skin had from switching face washes (which is normal) I’m IN LOVE!!! It leaves my skin feeling amazing and it actually does what it’s suppose to do! My skin is clearing up after only 2 weeks of using it. I’ve only been able to find it at Walmart, it’s about 5 bucks there. You can’t beat it!! They also have Superfruit pads and a gel face wash if the scrub isn’t your thing.
If you are a Marine wife, or live anywhere near a base you know about the Mary Kay bots they have everywhere!!! Don’t get me wrong, I like Mary Kay. I even signed up to sell it…that lasted about a week! The things that I use and recommend are the things I got out of the starter kit or from my first and only order. So ladies, make a list, these are great affordable things I like from Mary Kay (in case you were wondering what is worth the money.) First off, go to a party. There’s only 400 going on at any given moment here at Lejeune. You can get good deals. Ok…#1 The oil free eye makeup remover-AMAZING! #2 The Timewise night time gel, it really helps with red spots and helping keep your skin firm. #3 the under eye cream. So next time you get asked to come to a Mary Kay party just do it, who knows maybe you can get a discount on these great things:)
